Being Nosey: artist research

People I Saw But Never Met (2015), Zadok Ben- David

Thousands of miniature metal figurines depicting people Zadok saw in the street but never spoke to, this challenges the view of people we pass-by just being a backdrop to our daily life. I love the dimensional aspect of this piece and it's immersive nature as well as the figurines being like a photograph in that these people are preserved in that seemingly insignificant moment they were seen by the artist. It makes people seem valuable, I love people watching for much of this reason, not only am I intrigued but I like to think that everyone has value and try to imagine the good in them, I wonder where they're going, how their day has been and what they're having for supper. I'd like to think that when I walk past someone they may do the same, to give more sentiment to a seemingly minute existence we all share.

Boy wearing a snorkel

Walking through the shopping center as it was about to close it was less busy, people mainly on their way out and a less stressful place to navigate around with little people.

In this image I can see on the screen all the people on the bus behind me, in the mirror's reflection I see the driver and whilst on the bus I can see people out the windows. A perfect spot to observe which also includes observation that's indirect, through technology and mirrors, it seems modern day nosiness is made easier.

Being Nosey: Croatia

On the Flight

Archways:

Buss man:

In comparison to London, there was a mirror to see the bus driver but no digital screen to view other passengers, the bus was so packed I ended up right next to the drivers seat. It was a perfect spot to view Croatia as well as have a nosey at the driver..

Beach spotting: Inflatables/ Lilos:

People lying on rocks:

Luxuriating ladies:

These ladies spent the entire duration of the 2 hour boat journey to an Island taking it in turns to photograph each other luxuriation on the boat, up against the railings and dancing around. They'd take a couple pictures, show the other then start again, re-assessing the best angle to position their bodies. It was quite fascinating yet annoying they got in the way of the view.
