I could incorporate hand written/ drawn elements to contrast the clean photography or keep it simplistic and experiment with more digital techniques I'm unfamiliar with.
My idea is to make the book mainly in keeping with Liam's contemporary minimal style, looking into minimalism for inspiration, having full bleed images with muted colours matching those from the buildings and in terms of adding my own flare have collaged drawings over the top as a contrast. These drawings will be aligned to the brief as I want to narrate communist elements as Brutalism has historical links with communism.
I found this video which perfectly narrates the more architectural elements which could work quite well overlaying the stark photographs. I'd want to keep to black inked drawings as I feel the addition of colour would distract from the photographs and be unsuitable in context.
Liam has so far sent me over a series of black and white photographs of Leeds Uni, one of the four buildings he wants me to include and a body of text on Brutalist architecture.
