Shoot a music video for artist Bienvenue (Ben) for his new song Lemonade. Ben's music is funky pop, the song is about how people are consumed by social media, only living their lives through a phone screen, inducing paranoia. The video needs to include references to lemons (people on social media) and mirror his music tone: vibrant and fun.
My role is to art direct the video and paint Ben's jacket (with a lemon design) and customise shirt for the video. I'm collaborating with Luke Goodman on illustration who will be painting a mural for one of the shots and filming the video.
Over summer he asked me to do the album artwork for the track, so I have visual reference:
For some of the shots I want this surreal aesthetic, I plan to incorporate the Lemon heads throughout. Ben gave me a shirt covered in Lemons which I'm going to draw faces onto, to maintain fluidity in aesthetic from the album artwork to the video.
Matching the vibrancy of the song, we discussed having party settings for some shots. I started thinking about how to further incorporate lemons into the video which got me thinking about an animated title sequence, with a lemon on his phone which then blends into the video. I may need to enlist some help making this as I want it digitally animated to fit with the aesthetic of the album cover which I challenged myself to do digitally as I felt colour was a key element, fitting with the pop song.
I want to collaborate with Luke Goodman on Illustration, for one of his brief he's doing a mural, this is a perfect opportunity for him to do so, we've been discussing a graffiti mural covered in lemons.

As further visual reference I made this cover before the final one as experimentation:
