Setting Up

The student union helped me transport the easels from Vernon street to the Lending Room however they could only do so on the Thursday, whereas the exhibition was on the Sunday. Luckily having spoken to the pub they said we could leave them in the green room, which actually alleviated some of the work for Sunday as the easels would already be there. They were incredibly old and heavy! Some bits seemed to fall off as we moved them so I was really worried I wouldn't have enough that actually worked.. However on the Sunday it proved alright and there was actually some left over.

On Sunday I called the Lending room just to check what time I could come and start setting up, I was anxious to get it out the way, ensure all the easels worked, the video could be set up for projection and music cables and all were there. Unfortunately they called back to say I could come at around 6 to start setting up as they had a training day in the room (which they'd never mentioned before...)

I therefore had around an hour to drag all the easels up and down stairs and set them up (which I'd never done before and hadn't tried 'cus "how hard can it be?"). It was hard. I was getting very stressed, knowing family and friends were coming from Wales, Bristol, London and all over Leeds. The pressure got the better of me so I focused on transporting the easels while a group of my friends helped set them up, luckily we were finished by about 6.59. Had I not had help from about 10 people I have no idea how it would've been set up!

From Cystic Fibrosis Trust, I received two charity buckets for donations, many balloons which we attached to the bar and a long banner running along the front of the bar.

It made sense to have all the easels on the outside of the round to allow maximum room, I was concerned about the room capacity especially as on the Facebook event there was around 300 people either 'interested' or 'going'.

I did ask about additional lighting as I felt it was a bit dim but there was no lighting guy there (I would've had to have hired him) but the venue said we could use the fairy-lights and basic lights which gave a really warm atmospheric vibe, however a little dark. Before the event opened we managed to run back home and grab some large lamps from my friends to brighten up some of the photographs.

This was just outside the door of the Lending room, a print of Ned entitled 'MF Doom', wearing his Mf Doom ring (his favourite rapper) which featured heavily in the Spotify playlist played in the background. A lot of people said even before the exhibition I need that print!

"Ned's Photography Exhibition" out in the hall way to show the way from the pub downstairs.
